The Dating-Mating Game

As I was driving across town the other day I caught Lady GaGa’s song called ‘Poker Face’ on the radio… and the more I listened, the more I smiled. Why?  Because she was offering some honest insight into how many women play the dating-mating game... but most men probably miss it.  Here are just some of the lyrics :

I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got…

Can't read my, can't read my

No he can't read my poker face…

I won't tell you that I love you

Kiss or hug you… Cause I'm bluffin' with my muffin

I'm not lying I'm just stunnin' with my love-glue-gunning.

In short, make a man chase you until you catch him! It’s a timeless strategy, and it works because we (men and women) are all hard-wired to find a partner who is as high up the social pecking order as possible. But if we catch someone too easily, we generally tend to think that we can do better, and so we toss them aside.

That’s why many women make themselves sexually attractive… but then play hard to get. It’s a Primal Thing!

Men should do the same... in a masculine way of course... but their testosterone causes them to not always think with their brains. :)

So how can a man make himself look more sexually attractive?  Well for a start, don't blindly follow the current fashion trends... because you could end up looking feminine, or like a little boy... and neither of those are going to stimulate primal triggers in a woman.

Masculine traits that are universally respected are things like : being practicality ; being capable ; being effective in what you do ; having high standards ; and noticing the finer details in things.

And when it comes to fashion, those traits translate as dressing in a way that's :
  • simple... which shows you're practical in your approach
  • strong... which shows that you're capable of getting the job done
  • functional... which shows that you're effective in everything you do
  • with an obvious quality... which shows you have high standards
  • and an understated elegance... which shows you appreciate fine detail.

That's what I call Alpha Styling, and basically it means dressing like this :
  • avoid clothes with excess decorations or unnecessary features
  • wear clothes that highlight your best physical features
  • and use dark and solid colours as your foundation.

And when it comes conversation with a woman, you can create a positive psychological impression if you talk in a way that highlights you're an Alpha Personality :
  • someone who knows their direction in life - or at least their direction right now
  • someone who believes what they're doing is worthwhile - which shows confidence and character
  • someone who is aware of their strengths and weaknesses - so they're not looking for anyone's approval.

Listen to what she has to say about what's going on in her life, and when there's a pause in the conversation, just start talkung about some aspect of your life in a way that highlights any of the points above.....

..... What you're doing career-wise... Why you feel it's worthwhile... Why you're confident about where you're going... And what you hope to do in the future

Most importantly, don't be too eager!  Keep in mind that we are all hard-wired to find a partner who is as high up the social pecking order as possible... but if we catch someone too easily, we tend to think that we can do better... and toss them aside.

It's a Primal Thing.
